Our Course Workflow

Shaping, Sprint, Iterations, Release

1

Identify the Topic - Preparation

We will first establish the type of course you are enrolled on and identify the areas you would like to be supported in. It is common for our students to enroll for a long-term plan to provide full coverage in the academic year.

2

Initial Assessment - Presentation

During this process, we will be working together in identifying an individual’s learning and support needs to enable the design of an individual learning plan which will provide the structure for their learning.

3

The Hard Graft - Practice

We will use our preferred choice of online platform (google classroom) to support your child by using a range of teaching tools and strategies such as; animations, quizzes, open/closed ended questions, exam questions, retention exercises, marking & feedback and much more.

4

Feedback and Expertise - Performance

We will assess the quality of learning during the duration of teaching. Our tailored mades assessments would give us indicaton on how effectively we have plugged the gaps in learning. More importantly, we will meticulously analyse the data collated during the assessments and address any any further gaps in knowledge.

In KS1 science, your child will be learning about the importance of asking questions, gathering evidence, carrying out experiments and looking at different ways of presenting their results. We will be covering all the core topics your child will study in school, including how animals and humans move, feed and grow, parts of the body, plants, the properties of different materials, electricity, forces and motion. Then have fun at home with great experiments that reinforce learning and get your child excited about science and the world around them.
Throughout KS2, your child will study science topics in three broad categories: life and living things, materials and their properties and physical processes.

You can support science learning at home, help your child develop the skills of ‘scientific enquiry’ and stimulate their interest in the world around them with our KS2 sciences worksheets, activities and games.

For each topic, we have resources to reinforce learning at home in a practical and experimental way and encourage your child to think about methods of ‘scientific enquiry’, such as ideas and evidence and investigative skills.

Our syllabus complements 140 ideas within the programme of study can lead to students moving to a new theme almost every lesson.
The programme of study lists 140 biology, chemistry and physics ideas and don’t distinguish what’s most/least important, nor the links between ideas. The content is under 10 big idea headings: Forces, Electromagnetism, Energy, Waves, Matter, Reactions, Earth, Organisms, Ecosystems and Genes. Each idea contains four smaller topics: the building blocks for the big ideas.
Here, sciences are best taught separately, within their own areas of disciplines. Biology, chemistry and physics content are presented clearly and taught with the aid of animations to help undertstand abstract ideas. Some areas include; Cell Biology; Organisation; Infection and response; and Bioenergetics; Atomic structure and the periodic table; Bonding, structure, and the properties of matter; Quantitative chemistry, Chemical changes; and Energy changes; Forces; Waves; Magnetism and electromagnetism; and Space physics.
